Police Arrest Suspected KEDCO’s Cable Vandals, Drug Baron in Jigawa
The Jigawa state police command says it has arrested two suspects who allegedly vandalized cables installations belonging to the Kano Electricity distribution company (KEDCO).
The command in a statement signed by it public relations officer DSP Lawan Shiisu Adam said the two suspects Yasir Isah ‘m’ 20yrs of Tsohon-kafi quarters, and one Mustafa Lawal ‘m’ 20yrs of Kofar Dazau quarters, all of Kazaure local government area were arrested with a Disc Insulator and aluminum electric wires inside a sack.
According to the statement “On 04/09/23 at about 1300hrs, info from a reliable source revealed that unknown persons were seen with aluminium wires in a sack strongly suspected to be stolen.”
“On interrogation, the suspects could not give a satisfactory account of how they came across the properties and admitted to having vandalized Kano Electricity Distribution Company (KEDCO) properties along Gwiwa- Kazaure Highway,” it said.
When the Acting Manager, Kazaure Technical Service Point (TSP) was contacted, he was confirmed that about two (2) weeks ago hoodlums invaded the KEDCO electricity line at the old NYSC Skills Acquisition Center along Gwiwa — Kazaure Highway and vandalized their properties worth of thousand naira.
Meanwhile, the command has arrested Shu’aibu Musa ‘m’ age 25yrs of Bakin Kasuwa quarters Guri LGA was nabbed in possession of forty-nine (49) D-5 tablets, fourteen (14) tramadol capsules, and twelve (12) wraps of dry leave suspected to be Indian Hemp.
It said “On 05/09/2023 at about 0800hrs team of policemen attached to Guri Divisional Police Headquarters, conducted a raid at a criminal hideout in Bakin Kasuwa Guri LGA.”
The statement added that the suspects will be charged before the court for proper prosecution.
