  The presidential election tribunal has upheld the victory of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu. The tribunal ruled that Peter Obi and Labour Party failed to prove claims of electoral malpractice against the governing All Progressives Congress (APC) in the 2023 presidential election. “This petition is hereby declared unmeritorious,” one of the judges said. “The documents promised by the petitioners were not attached to the petition and served on the respondents,” he added. The Justice ruled that Obi and the Labour Party did not adequately detail their allegations of corrupt practices, vote suppression, fictitious results, and other irregularities in their petition.

  The Presidential Election Petition Tribunal (PEPT) has thrown out a suit brought before it by the Allied Peoples Movement (APM) seeking the disqualification of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Vice President Kashim Shettima. APM had contended that Tinubu and Shettima were not validly nominated to contest the February 25. They argue that by the combined reading of sections 131(c) and 142(2) of the Nigerian Constitution, 1999 and Section 133 of the Electoral Act made them to invalid. Kwara state Fire Service has recovered the corpse of a 43-year-old man, Mr. Abdulqadri Muritala, from a domestic well in the Ilorin metropolis. Radio Nigeria gathered that the incident happened in a residential house located behind Global Primary and Secondary School, Bayi community, Agbejila area, opposite Oniguguru compound, Oko-Erin area, Ilorin, Ilorin West local government area of the state. Radio Nigeria’s Ali Muhammad Rabi’u reporting from Illorin, the state capital also learned that the incident occurred at about 10:30 am when one Mr. David Oke, who resides in the neighbourhood, called the fire service on the incident. The Jigawa state police command says it has arrested two suspects who allegedly vandalized cables installations belonging to the Kano Electricity distribution company (KEDCO).
